I had the honor of partnering with Flight Night Space Week once again. If you’ve never heard of Flight Night Space Week, it’s an event that brings the love of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) and a desire to explore space to the kids of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The event is loads of fun for everyone and offers lots of ways kids can engage in hands-on STEAM fun with exhibits like coding an Ozbot to explore the moon and using a Sphero bot to explore the surface of the moon. But in addition to the hands-on exhibits, I also they also got to participate in a conversation with the kids in attendance where I talked about my in the Air Force and as an astronaut.

I love getting the opportunity to talk to young people about STEAM. It’s been such a huge part of my life and opened the doors to so many adventures for me. When I was growing up in Texas I sometimes had trouble staying focused and motivated to complete my schoolwork, one of the reasons I started Virtus Adventures is helping inspire the next generation of leaders about what is possible. So it was an honor to come back meet our next generation of scientists, writers, and let them know that no achievement is out of reach.
Of course, this wasn’t my first time partnering with Flight Night for their annual Space Week. I’ve had the honor of working with them in the past, and I’m always honored to be a part of a team that inspires and empowers kids with the curiosity and knowledge they need to become lifelong learners and leaders of tomorrow.
